I love creative people. Plus, I have to admit, a great deal of what I know today I learned directly from my own clients. I'd do their hair extensions and send them home with a plan. In the early days, hair extensions were rough, to say the least. The hair was bad and it was challenging to find techniques and products that would actually work. Working well was a completely different story!
But, there were a few totally amazing clients that were so dedicated to wearing their extensions that they took all of my advice and expounded upon it. To these great gals I am forever grateful. I learned a lot.
But, truth be told, this was all in the maintenance and care department. They all saw what I did and unanimously agreed; it was my job, not theirs, to install the extensions and to take them out. Why? Because they saw what was actually involved to have beautiful, natural looking hair that was easy to wear over and over again. And, they trusted me. They'd say, "You make that look so easy!" It’s like anything else . . . perfect practice makes perfect.
Therefore, in an effort to ensure the proper use of Monkey Barrz, it is sold ONLY to licensed cosmetologists. They've gone to school, passed their exams, and worked to get where they are today. Most importantly, they have the technical knowledge and experience to make educated decisions with you concerning your hair.
Their responsibilities to you are to:
Know how to properly analyze your hair and scalp. Is it strong and healthy enough to sustain hair extensions? Know how to properly analyze your lifestyle, hobbies, and evaluate your hair care routine. They may also evaluate the effects of any medication you're taking on your hair . Are you a good candidate for hair extension services? Determine if fusion is the right extension method for you. (About 85 to 90% of my own clients were perfect for wearing Monkey Barrz. But, there were some that needed other extension methods such as weaving or braiding. There were also some that needed hair integration systems. Your hair extension artist will know which method, or combination of methods will best suite you and your hair.) Know how to properly apply the extensions with your natural root direction to avoid unnecessary stress at your scalp. (Improper application is one of the leading causes of hair loss and breakage associated with hair extensions.) Know how to vary the size and place of the extensions for optimal visual effect, comfort and versatility. Patterns for extension placement can vary greatly from client to client for many different reasons. Know how to color-match the extension hair to your own. They may also recommend “creative” coloring with the hair extensions in lieu of chemical services. Know how to choose a suitable texture of extension hair to match or enhance your own. Know where to purchase quality hair from reliable sources. Most professional hair extension artists will have one or more regular suppliers and will actually keep records on your color, texture, length, etc. Know exactly what products and tools you'll need to keep your extensions and natural hair in optimum condition. Just as important, they can tell you what NOT to do! Know the proper time and technique for removing the extensions. (This is the other reason extensions can get a bad rap…. People try to leave them in too long, or taking them out on their own . . . no . . . no . . . no. Always have a trained Monkey Barrz professional remove your Monkey Barrz hair extensions.) Know how to co-ordinate the extension installation and removal with all of your other chemical/salon services. Know how to make a plan for your hair. A true professional will properly counsel you on all the pros and cons, expenses and maintenance. Your hair extension experience should be a good one. And, you should be able to wear them until you both decide otherwise.
So, sorry….I can't sell Monkey Barrz directly to you….but if you have a stylist you love and trust, please feel free to have them contact me. Let’s see if we can get them set up as a Hair Extension Artist and you on your way to longer, thicker, more beautiful hair!
